Lama Karma Tartchin

Lama Karma Tartchin started his practice and studies in the Tibetan Buddhism in 1989. From 1994 to 1999, he was the director of the Karma Theksum Chokhorling Center. In 1998, he received Mahamudra instructions from his root Lama, the Supreme Vajradhara Guru 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa Rinpoche, the main Guru of H.H. the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Orgyen Trinlay Dorje, in Mahamudra and in the training of the next generation of Buddhist masters.

In the year 2000, he joined the traditional three year and three month retreat (Naro Tchodruk) under the guidance of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, retreat

master of the Karme Ling Retreat Center and abbot of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra – KTD, the North American seat of the Gyalwang Karmapa. During the three year retreat, besides completing the curriculum of the practices taught and also practiced by the masters of the lineage: Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa and Gampopa, and personal instructions

from Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche and Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche, Lama Tartchin also obtained teachings from important masters such as V.V. Khenchen Thrangy Rinpoche, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Traleg Kyabgon Rinpoche, Karma Tchagme Rinpoche and Bardor Tulku Rinpoche.

At the end of the retreat, in 2004, his master, Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, congratulated him for being the first Karma Kagyu Brazilian Lama and for being the first one allowed to grant initiations on the mai deities of the lineage.

 

Lama Tartchin has a long experience on the main practices of the Kagyu School, and a vast knowledge on the History of the masters of the lineage, assuring him great value as a teacher and also as a practitioner.

 

In 2007, he founded KTT in Rio de Janeiro and, since then, has been dedicating exclusively  to practicing and transmitting Buddha’s teachings to his students in Rio de Janeiro and all over Brazil.
